How old must I be to start?
You can take the CBR theory exam from age 16. Practical driving lessons may begin at 16.5. Under 2toDrive you may sit the practical exam at 17. After passing at that age you drive with a coach until you turn 18, and that coach has to meet the CBR conditions. Many teenagers in expat families use this route, because it means they can drive as soon as they are allowed. Older students and adults simply follow the regular route without a coach. Not sure which applies to you? Mention your age in the form, and we explain the options during your free trial lesson.
Can lessons start right after school?
Yes. Being picked up at school and dropped at home afterwards is part of the deal. Many young learners like this, because it turns a normal afternoon into useful driving time. You schedule the lessons yourself, so they never clash with tests, sports or a part time job. Evening and weekend slots are available as well. During exam weeks at school you can simply plan fewer lessons and pick up the pace afterwards. Keeping the same instructor ensures you continue where you left off. That continuity matters more than how often you drive in a given week.
Who pays, and can it be spread out?
In many families the parents pay for the lessons, so payment options matter. Instalments are available for the two larger packages. Compleet, package C, costs €2,046 for 24 lessons with the CBR practical exam. Zorgeloos, package D, is chosen most and costs €2,702 for 34 lessons, the exam and support with exam nerves. Paying in one sum applies to packages A and B. Prices already contain VAT, and registering is free. Should your child stop before every lesson is used, the remaining lessons are refunded. That gives families some flexibility when plans change.
Will I drive in Tilburg too?
Very likely, especially later in your training. Oisterwijk itself offers village streets, forest roads and railway crossings. Tilburg adds busier traffic, more lanes and larger junctions. The road between both places is a good stretch for practising higher speeds. Learners who live in Berkel-Enschot or Udenhout often combine both settings within one lesson. A lesson stretched to 90 or 120 minutes suits that kind of route well. Your exam takes place at the nearest CBR exam centre, so getting used to varied traffic helps. The lesson plan shows when it is time to take on the city.
I am an international student. Is my age a problem?
Not at all. Most international students are 18 or older, which means the regular adult route applies. You take the theory exam, follow lessons and sit the practical exam whenever you are ready. After passing you may drive alone straight away. If you already hold a licence from another country, swapping it is sometimes possible, though that depends on the issuing country. We cannot promise anything about that, so check with the official authorities. Otherwise the CBR exams are the way forward. At driving school Oisterwijk your lessons are fully in English, so the language never holds you back.
Does my coach need to do anything?
With 2toDrive, a young driver who passes at 17 may only drive accompanied by a coach until turning 18. That coach must meet conditions set by the CBR. Check the official CBR information to confirm who qualifies before you plan the exam. Scoobz concentrates on preparing you for the practical exam itself. Arranging the coach is something your family handles. Once you pass, the coach rides along until your eighteenth birthday. Arranging this early prevents delays when your exam date comes closer.
Is an automatic licence fine for a young driver?
For most young drivers it is a practical choice. Without a clutch pedal you focus fully on observation, speed and positioning, which are exactly the skills examiners look at. Scoobz teaches only in new automatic cars, so your licence will show code 78. It allows every car built without a clutch pedal. Passing a separate practical exam with a manual gearbox later lifts that restriction. Your theory does not need repeating as long as the certificate remains valid. Curious about the details? Ask during your trial lesson.
What should I expect from my trial lesson?
Fill in the form with your age, address and a few moments you are free. We contact you to arrange a time. On the day, you are collected at home or at school. The trial begins with a short conversation about what you already know, followed by driving in a quiet street. Complete beginners learn how the car responds to the pedals and the wheel. You then hear honestly how it went and which package fits. There is no obligation to continue. Parents are welcome to ask questions about the route, the costs and the exam planning.
