Do I need to speak any Dutch?
No. Every instruction, correction and debrief happens in English, so you can start without a single word of Dutch. Road signs follow international symbols, and your instructor explains the Dutch text on signs whenever it matters. Terms such as voorrang, which means priority, come up naturally during lessons and quickly become familiar. That is useful, because you will hear them again in daily life around Eindhoven. During lessons, nothing depends on Dutch. You simply focus on the road, the mirrors and the cyclist coming up beside you.
Can code 78 be removed later?
Yes. Take another practical exam, this time in a car with a clutch, and code 78 disappears from your licence. Theory can be skipped on that occasion, provided your certificate has not expired. Scoobz only teaches automatic, which means manual lessons would have to come from elsewhere. For most drivers in and around Eindhoven, the question never comes up. Automatic cars have become common, and learning without a clutch leaves more attention for bus lanes, cyclists and busy junctions on the Ring. Should your situation change later, for example because a job requires a manual car, the option to remove the code always remains.
How many lessons will I need?
That depends on what you bring with you, and a free trial lesson gives the clearest answer. Complete beginners usually look at the larger packages, with 24 or 34 lessons. Someone who drove abroad for years may only need to adjust to Dutch habits, and the 8 lesson refresher package can be enough. During that first drive, the instructor observes your roundabouts, mirror checks and priority decisions, then suggests a package. You are never locked into extra hours. Lessons left over in a package are refunded if you pass sooner. This keeps the choice practical rather than a guess made before you have even sat behind the wheel in Eindhoven.
Can I take lessons after work?
Yes. Evening lessons are available, and so are weekend slots. You plan them yourself, which helps when project deadlines or lab hours change without warning. Longer lessons are possible too. A 90 or 120 minute lesson leaves time to drive from Woensel to the A67 and back through Stratum, covering city traffic and motorway in one session. Collection from your office or home means you avoid travelling to a meeting point after a long day. Because there is no waiting list, you can usually begin soon after your trial lesson, and then build a rhythm that suits your working week.
Which package suits someone who already drives?
Package A, called Opfrissen, is designed for that situation. It contains 8 lessons of 60 minutes for €560, with your own instructor, pick up and drop off, and slots you plan yourself. It does not include an exam and is paid in one go. Drivers who still need to pass the CBR practical exam often prefer package B instead. That one combines 16 lessons with the exam for €1,120. Experienced drivers from abroad mainly need to learn Dutch priority rules and how cyclists behave near the station or the TU/e. Your trial lesson shows which of these two fits best.
What if I do not use all my lessons?
Then you get the money back for the lessons you did not drive. That matters for internationals, because contracts end and plans change. Suppose you take package C with 24 lessons and pass after needing fewer. The unused lessons are refunded, so you only pay for what you actually used. This makes it easier to pick a slightly larger package with confidence. You keep room for extra practice before the exam without paying for hours you end up not needing. Ask about the details when you sign up through the form.
I get nervous during tests. Is there support?
Yes. Scoobz offers help with exam anxiety, and package D includes it explicitly. Nerves often show up as rushed decisions, for instance entering a roundabout too quickly or forgetting a shoulder check. A good instructor recognises those patterns and builds calm routines around them. Practising the same manoeuvres repeatedly, such as parking near Strijp-S or turning in a quiet street in Gestel, makes them feel ordinary. Having one fixed instructor helps too, since no new face appears halfway through the course. By exam day, the car, the routine and the voice beside you feel familiar.
Do you collect learners outside the city?
Yes. Pick up and drop off covers Eindhoven itself and the towns around it. Learners in Veldhoven, Best, Son en Breugel, Nuenen, Geldrop and Waalre can be picked up from their home, school or workplace. Inside the city, that includes Centrum, Strijp, Woensel, Gestel, Stratum, Tongelre and Meerhoven. Starting from your own address has a clear benefit. You learn the junctions and roundabouts you will face every day as a licensed driver. Mention your address in the form when you request the free trial lesson, and your driving school Eindhoven instructor plans the first route from there.
