Our home city

Learn to drive where Scoobz is based

Our office sits at Daviottenweg 40 in Den Bosch. From here, instructors head out to learners across the city and the villages around it. You get lessons in English, a new automatic car and someone who knows these streets well.

Expats, students and partners of internationals all find their way to us. Some need a first licence. Others hold one that cannot be exchanged and therefore have to pass the CBR exams. In both cases, lessons begin from your current level, not from a standard script.

Each driving school Den Bosch course follows a personal lesson plan. Lessons of 60 minutes suit beginners, while 90 or 120 minutes help in the final weeks before the exam. You plan everything yourself, evenings and weekends included.

Local knowledge

From the Binnenstad to Rosmalen

Narrow streets define the Binnenstad. Pedestrians, cyclists and parked cars share limited space, so slow and precise steering matters here. Near the station and the Paleiskwartier, cyclists arrive in steady streams, and you learn to anticipate them rather than react. Rosmalen and Maaspoort feel very different, with wider roads and many roundabouts. That makes them a natural place to practise priority and lane choice. Empel, De Muntel and Hintham each add their own mix of junctions. Two motorways run along the city, the A2 and the A59, and both become part of your lessons later on. Living in Vught, Berlicum or Sint-Michielsgestel? You are collected there as well. Lessons that begin at home mean you master your own daily routes first.

Background

Becoming a licensed driver in the Netherlands

Mind the deadline

Theory results expire after one and a half years. Your practical exam has to fall inside that period.

You start with theory. The CBR theory exam checks hazard perception, knowledge and insight. You may sit it from age 16. Your certificate then lasts one and a half years, so plan your lessons with that deadline in mind. Practical lessons can begin from 16 and a half. With 2toDrive, the practical exam is possible from 17, after which you drive with a coach who meets CBR conditions until 18. The practical exam itself takes 55 minutes. You drive independently and perform special manoeuvres, for example parking and turning. Pass in an automatic and code 78 appears on your licence. From then on, only cars without a clutch pedal are allowed. Another exam, taken in a manual car, removes the code, and theory needs no repeat while the certificate is valid. Simple rules, yet timing matters.

Exam

Practical exam essentials

Your exam starts and ends at the nearest CBR exam centre. Expect 55 minutes behind the wheel with independent driving and special manoeuvres.

01

In the Binnenstad, keep your speed low and your hands ready, because narrow streets leave little room for correction.

02

Cyclists around the Paleiskwartier often appear from behind parked cars, so scan ahead before every junction.

03

When joining the A2, use the full length of the acceleration lane before you merge.

Ask your question →
Where is Scoobz located?

Scoobz Rijopleidingen is registered at Daviottenweg 40, 5222 BH Den Bosch. That address is our base, yet lessons do not start there. Your instructor comes to you instead, at home, school or work, and brings you back afterwards. For learners in the city, that could mean De Muntel, Engelen or the Paleiskwartier. Learners in Vught or Heusden are collected just as easily. All contact runs through the form on the website, which keeps every request in one place. Fill it in, note your preference for English, and we plan your free trial lesson from there.

Which package should I choose?

Start with your experience. Someone who already drives well and only needs to adjust to Dutch roads can look at package A, with 8 lessons for €560 and no exam. Package B adds the CBR practical exam to 16 lessons for €1,120. Beginners usually need more time behind the wheel, which is where packages C and D come in. Package D is the most chosen option, with 34 lessons and help with exam anxiety. Still unsure? The free trial lesson gives your instructor enough to advise you. Unused lessons are refunded anyway, so the choice is never final.

I have never driven a car. Can I still start?

Absolutely. Plenty of learners have their very first lesson with us. You begin on calm roads, perhaps in Empel or a quiet part of Rosmalen, where you get used to steering, braking and the mirrors without pressure. An automatic helps a lot at this stage, because there is no clutch to worry about. Step by step, the lessons move towards busier junctions, roundabouts in Maaspoort and finally the A59. A personal lesson plan sets the order, based on what you can already do. Learners who feel anxious get extra support, since Scoobz also offers help with exam anxiety.

How long does a single lesson last?

You choose between 60, 90 and 120 minutes. A standard package lesson is 60 minutes, which suits most beginners because concentration stays high. Longer lessons work well later in the course. A 120 minute session leaves room to drive from Hintham through the Binnenstad and onto the A2, so you meet narrow streets and motorway traffic in one go. Learners with full working days often prefer fewer but longer lessons. Students sometimes do the opposite and fit short lessons between lectures. Since you plan the slots yourself, you can switch between lengths whenever your week calls for it.

Are all lesson cars automatic?

Yes. Scoobz teaches in new automatic cars only, and manual lessons are not offered. That means the licence you earn carries code 78, which allows cars without a clutch pedal. For daily life in and around Den Bosch, that is rarely a limitation. Driving without a clutch also frees up attention for what really matters here, such as cyclists near the station and tight corners in the old centre. If you ever need to drive a manual car, passing a fresh practical exam with a clutch removes the code. Theory stays untouched while your certificate is still within its validity.

What if I move away before I finish?

Internationals move more often than most learners, and that is covered. Lessons you have paid for but never driven are refunded. Suppose you bought package D and a new job takes you abroad after twenty lessons. You then receive money back for the lessons that remain. There is no registration fee to lose either. This makes starting less of a gamble when your contract or study period has an end date. Moving within the Netherlands is another option to discuss, since Scoobz gives lessons in several cities. Mention your plans through the form, and we look at what works.

Do you teach in Vught and Heusden too?

Yes. Besides the city itself, learners in Vught, Berlicum, Sint-Michielsgestel, Den Dungen and Heusden get a lift from home, school or job to start their lesson. Inside Den Bosch, that includes the Binnenstad, De Muntel, Rosmalen, Maaspoort, Empel, Engelen, the Paleiskwartier and Hintham. Starting where you live is practical in two ways. You save the trip to a meeting point, and you learn the junctions you will use daily after passing. For many learners in the villages, that means early practice on the A2 or A59. Add your address to the form, and the route is planned around it.

How do I sign up?

Everything begins with the form on the website. Choose the free trial lesson, state your preferred language as English and add where you live. We then contact you to plan that first drive. After the trial, you decide whether to continue and which package fits. Signing up costs nothing extra, because there is no registration fee. Since there is no waiting list, regular lessons can follow soon after. Your driving school Den Bosch instructor then stays with you until the exam, which Scoobz requests and arranges at the nearest CBR exam centre. From that point, it is all about practice.
